Raspberry Oat Smoothie

“Bet you didn’t know you could put oats in a smoothie. It may sound strange but they’re an awesome addition—and they’re really filling. Oats make your smoothie thicker, heartier, and more satisfying. This blended beverage will keep you full until lunchtime,” says Keri Glassman, MS, RD, CDN. If you’re an oatmeal lover, check out these great toppings to try.

  • 1 cup kefir

  • 1 cup frozen raspberries

  • 1/4 cup raw rolled oats

  • 1 CocoaVia Unsweetened Dark Chocolate stick pack

  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Apple Spice Smoothie

“Imagine apple pie was actually really good for your health and you could drink it. Yup, that’s what this smoothie is like. It’s got all of the spices and flavors of a sweet apple dessert but with none of the added sugar (except for a little bit of honey) or carbs,” says Keri Glassman.

  • 1 apple quartered

  • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Pineapple Avocado Smoothie

Smoothiecourtesy Neda Varbanova

“This is a really creamy smoothie that will satisfy your sugar cravings the all-natural way! The avocado in this smoothie provides plenty of essential fatty acids and vitamins A, E, K, B, C, plus fiber and protein, which will keep you feeling full. The pineapple is not only sweet but it has anti-inflammatory properties and wonderful digestive enzymes,” says Neda Varbanova, certified culinary nutritionist, holistic health coach, and recipe creator. Here are 15 more anti-inflammatory foods.

  • 5 ice cubes

  • Handful of spinach

  • 1/2 avocado, peeled

  • 1/2 banana

  • 1 inch ginger, peeled

  • 1 drop liquid stevia

  • 1 teaspoon hemp seeds

  • 1 cup pineapple

  • 1 1/2 cup coconut water

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Green Giant

Smoothiecourtesy Chef Jason Roberts

“All of these ingredients are nutrient powerhouses that work together to jumpstart your metabolism and keep you satisfied. Avocados are full of healthy fats that keep you feeling full longer; cucumbers also work to keep you full with their hydrating properties. Kiwis are excellent sources of dietary fiber which aid in digestion, and kale includes a combination of protein, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids. Plus it’s so easy to make just puree in an upright blender (I love the BELLA Rocket Blender),” says Chef Jason Roberts

  • 1 cup almond, rice, or soymilk

  • 2 leaves of kale

  • 1/2 a green apple

  • 3-inch piece of cucumber

  • 1/2 an avocado

  • 1 kiwi fruit, skin removed

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Orange Creamsicle Protein Shake

Smoothiecourtesy Paul Salter MS RD

“The high-protein, high-fiber profile of this creamy smoothie makes it an excellent choice when you’re battling hunger during your weight loss journey. Both protein and fiber slow down digestion and promote satiety signals to be sent to the brain. Together, well, let’s just say food will be off your mind for the next few hours—unless like me you enjoy the smoothie too much and cannot wait to have it again!” –Paul Salter, MS, RD, and former nutrition editor of Do you struggle to stop eating? Here are some surefire tricks that really work.

  • 1/4 cup orange juice

  • 1/2 medium frozen banana

  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein

  • 3-5 ice cubes

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Slimmer Power Protein Smoothie

Smoothiecourtesy Kimberly Snyder

“The Slimmer Power Protein Smoothie is a recipe from my book, Kimberly Snyder’s 30-Day Road Map for Healthy Weight Loss. It will be available January 4 at my site. The smoothie gives you a boost of energy, keeps you fuller longer, and also helps with cravings,” says Kimberly Snyder, nutritionist and multi-time New York Times best-selling author of the Beauty Detox book series and Radical Beauty. Looking for ways to add more protein to your diet? Here are 35 nutritionist-approved ideas.

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 serving sprouted vegan protein powder (I like the Garden of Life brand)

  • 1 Tbs. chia seeds gel (chia seeds soaked in water at a 1:9 ratio; can keep in the bowl covered in the fridge for up to a week)

  • Stevia to sweeten to taste

  • ½ tsp. cinnamon

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Tomatillo Zinger

Smoothiecourtesy Jenna Tanenbaum

“This tastes like DIY V8 juice. Researchers at Purdue University found that half a teaspoon of cayenne increases the number of calories burned because it raises body temperature; eaten with meals, it may also help suppress appetite. When I am making a savory smoothie, I like adding cayenne, 1/2 a jalapeno, or hot sauce to spice things up,” says Jenna Tanenbaum, co-founder of GreenBlender.

  • 1 1/2 oz baby spinach

  • 2 roma plum tomatoes

  • 2 tomatillos, husked

  • 1 lime, juiced

  • 1 pinch cayenne

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup ice

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Strawberry Orange Spritzer

Smoothiecourtesy Jenna Tanenbaum

“You don’t need to add spinach to make a vegetable smoothie. I like using red peppers to help boost my vitamin C, vitamin A, and iron. Strawberries and berries, in general, are great go-to low sugar fruits that can take any smoothie to the next level,” says Jenna Tanenbaum. Here are 10 more reasons to eat more strawberries.

  • 4 oz mini peppers

  • 3 oz strawberries

  • 1 orange, peeled

  • 1 tbsp flaxseed

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup ice

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Blueberry Protein

Smoothiecourtesy Amina Altai

“Starting the day with healthy fats and protein is a great way to manage your weight. It contributes to greater satiation throughout the day and supports healthy blood sugar levels, and that helps prevent those 4 p.m. candy binges. Flaxseed is also great for supporting weight loss thanks to the fiber and omega 3 fatty acids,” says Amina Altai, nutrition and corporate wellness consultant.

  • 1/2 a cup organic blueberries

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein

  • 1 tablespoon of almond butter

  • 1/4 a teaspoon of maca

  • 1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 tablespoon of ground flax

  • A dash of cinnamon

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Coffee Protein Smoothie

“Start your morning with this delicious coffee protein shake rather than just a cup of coffee with cream and sugar. Many people trying to lose weight actually skip breakfast in an effort to cut calories. However, this can cause headaches, jitters, sugar cravings, and also deter a weight loss program. Combining the coffee provides a morning jolt, as well as giving you healthy carbs from the banana and protein from the powders,” says Stacy Goldberg, MPH, RN, BSN, and founder of Savorfull. Not familiar with PB2? Nutritionists love it—here’s why.

Blend all ingredients until smooth.
